I'm sure some of you see anything science-related and feel a sense of anxiety/panic setting in. Have no fear...I am here to show you that you can learn seemingly complicated concepts by breaking down things into simple, understandable pieces. Similar to some of you, I grew up terrified of Biology/Chemistry etc, however thanks to some great teachers, I found my love for biology, chemistry in learning about the brain, getting my Masters in Neuroscience. While attending grad school, I had fun teaching labs for the following courses: undergraduate Biology for Majors & Non-Majors, Human Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Biopsychology & Psychology 101. My specialized knowledge is in the areas of psychology, neuroscience & biology. I take pride in the success of my students & am pretty laid back with my approach..as long as you're open to learning. I have experience teaching/tutoring: Biology, Anatomy, Psychology, Psych Statistics, Research Methods, Neuroscience, Genetics, Neurogenetics, Biopsychology, Neurobiology, Physiology, Human Biology & Pharmacology. I have a Masters of Science in Neuroscience, Bachelors in Psychology & minor in Biology. Hobbies
I've been teaching Pilates for 15 years and own a Pilates & Yoga studio in Hartford/West Hartford. Originally from Upstate New York, I grew up as a student-athlete, playing Division 3 Women's Soccer in College and running indoor/outdoor track in H.S.. In grad school, I learned how to apply the same work ethic and focus I had as an athlete to my studies, receiving close to a 4.0 GPA in a competitive Masters program in Neuroscience. While in H.S. I found science difficult to understand , I attribute my later success in college and grad school to great teachers that took difficult concepts and simplified them to an easy to learn format. Since I find those kind of teachers in my field to be rare, I'd like to pay it forward to other students that find science overwhelming. Overall, I'd consider myself down to earth and ready to work with those struggling in Psych and the Sciences who are willing to put in work!
