Hi there! I hold a bachelors in pure Mathematics from the university of Massachusetts Dartmouth. While studying at Umass I tutored for three years. During the summer of 2013, I participated in the first NSF Noyce Summer Institute at UMass Dartmouth. This ten day institute titled “Teaching as a STEM Profession” introduced individuals interested in becoming STEM educators to the real world of teaching through a candid analysis of all aspects of the teaching profession today. This interactive, “hands-on” institute, taught by faculty from Education Department, explored the challenges and rewards of teaching and studied contemporary teaching strategies relevant to today’s diverse classrooms. I was able to spend three days during the institute shadowing a master mathematics high school teacher at New Bedford High School. I'm currently going for my master's in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern University, one of the top program in the nation. My experience as an NSF Noyce Intern and Institute participant thus far, my background in mathematics and my demonstrated ability and passion for education will definitely prove to be of great value to you.
